Creating the 38’ replica of a Viking ship originally built on Norway’s west coast in 1030AD took daring, patience, remarkable collaborations, and a good dose of skill. Fidalgo Island boat builder, Jay Smith will share a tale of traditional shipbuilding that includes sawyers, blacksmith, sculptor, sailmaker, visionary owner, and the camaraderie that kept the project moving forward until a festive launch in November, 2017.
