Stanford Siver made his way to Port Townsend by way of the East Coast, where he walked out of his office job to attend the Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding. After falling in love with the craft Stanford never looked back. Eventually he would come to take ownership of the 38-foot Ziska, a beautiful 116 year old wooden boat that needed some love. Shortly after finishing Ziska’s restoration, Stanford decided to take the boat for a little cruise to Ketchikan and completed the 2019 Race to Alaska in historic style. Although they did not win, there’s an undeniable romanticism to the story of Ziska and its human propelled journey to the north.
