In addition to their South Pacific adventure, the Nansens sailed 35,000 miles in the Pacific Northwest while living aboard for 14 years. As they aged, the time inevitably came for them to find a new owner for FRAM. Tim Obrien purchased the boat with the idea that he would one day retire and continue their dream.

February 13th 2019 at approximately 5:30am that dream was shattered with a phone call from the Port of Port Angeles where the boat was anchored, with the news that FRAM sank.

Hopping in his truck, Tim drove to the Port only to see the masts of FRAM where his once Majestic Sailboat stood. Afraid to look into the water, he cast his eyes down and was heart broken.

With help of family and friends, FRAM was raised and dry docked for repair. Restoration is underway. Even with no damage to the hull, Tim faces a long list of repairs.

Tim's dream will live on with FRAM.
