Jim Waite

Jim has loved wooden boats since before building a 15’ Acorn sailing skiff 30 years ago, Currently he lives on Orcas Island and is the caretaker/owner of a 35’ Cheoy Lee Lion sloop with a teak-planked hull built in 1962. With his engineering background, Jim has often looked at the underlying fundamentals behind design rules-of-thumb. Lately, he’s explored as-built hull modeling to serve as a guide for restoration efforts.
